Emily's Horse

We made a quick trip to Pasco at the end of January, and our youngest granddaughter Emily had a day off from school, so we took her up to see Bill and Norma Bennett at the ranch in Connell. Leslie Bennett took Emily out for her first ever horse ride on Smoke. She even rounded up some gloves and boots for her to borrow, Emily loves Smoke and is now a part owner with a bunch of other little kids. Norma's Pekinese, Thor, likes to see Emily (or anyone) coming and he and Em watched a little Disney together.  It was a fun day.

Wet

Linda Nelson

Calves seem to be born in the wet and coldest weather. I say that cold rain is like Pitocin for cows. We have had an unusually dry winter but we are tired of the rain after two days.

Cows in the Snow

Linda Nelson

Our few inches of snow are mostly gone today. Yesterday, Ed and Grace took a walk to our house and took some pictures on the way.

After calmly posing for the above picture, this momma had a new calf last night.

Speaking of firsts, this long-legged, newly minted teenager is my oldest granddaughter, Lindsay. Happy Birthday Lindsay.

Hank found the first calf of the year yesterday.  He was snuggled up in the barn but it looks like he went on a little "field trip."
